In the trenches – the making of an indie rock CD.

Hello again everybody, Ed from FZ here to blog-ify you again!

Today I am going to talk a bit about the making of Fear Zero’s 4th CD “Whole Damn Nation” which I have begun working on.  Basically, if you were to compare the making of the CD to the making of a baby, we are just lighting up the smoke after…well you know lol!  Lots more to be done, the songs must multiply and grow and take shape, hopefully one day turning into offspring that can spread themselves all over the world and fill people’s ears, hearts, eyes with emotions and memories.

Demoing sessions….for anybody that is not in the business, what this means is, long hours of sitting and recording songs you have written (sometimes years ago) but really never played, so you keep screwing them up over and over while you record them.  Great fun!  For me, the most fun is always the writing stage and of course performing the songs live.  The demoing part is not so much fun, but by the time we have whittled the songs down to the best few, and get to actually record them in a nice studio, the real fun will begin.

If I was to talk about the direction of the tunes, I would say that if you know anything about Fear Zero’s past output, you would know that I like to mix things up.  That being said, I have 18 songs of various styles written, some old, some new with topics varying from relationship tunes, to war, to man (or woman) love for a motorcycle (not in a sexual way but if you took it as that, check with a therapist lol) and many other topics.

I hope you will join me each week as I take you through the trenches of making an independent rock CD.

Till then, adios!
