Whole Damn Nation Available Now!

13 Tracks featuring "Breathe Again" & "No Way To Die"

If it is true that there is nothing to fear but fear itself, than Fear Zero has taken its name wisely.

"Fear Zero doesn't mean fear" insists leader Ed Sadler; "It is sort of an anti-fear. Do not be afraid of taking chances."

Their new album, Whole Damn Nation, is an example of chance taking. It incorporates a wide variety of styles from hard rock to simple pop to reggae.

“We were able to work with guys like Mike Fraser (ACDC, Aerosmith, Hinder) and Darren Grahn (Metallica, Crossfade, Third Eye Blind) and let me tell you, when you get to record in a famous and great sounding room such as Hippowest (formerly Mushroom), it just inspires you to play and write in the best way possible.”

Shooting rock videos

Hello again everyone!

Recently Fear Zero shot a couple of rock videos for release with our CD in the (hopefully) near future.  I just wanted to talk about the experience, maybe destroy a few myths and let you know what it is really like.

We have shot 4 videos now bearing the Fear Zero name.  If you are a fan you have only seen one of those so far and there is a reason.  Shooting a video is a bit of an art.  On top of trying to capture the essence of the song in the form of a storyline, you have to also capture the image that the band is trying to project.  If you are doing the videos independently like we do, that can be a real challenge considering the fact that most videos you see on VH1/Muchmusic cost tens of thousands of dollars.

T-shirt salesman – the new musician

Hi everyone, back for another round of blogging.  I have been doing a lot of thinking about how the music business has been affected by the internet, downloading and now of course the economy.

One friend recently said to me that a CD is like a business card.  I agree but damn those are expensive business cards!

Another Short “Life on the Road” Tour Story

Some weird things happen on the road.  From the long hours travelling with nothing to do, to the strange people you meet after shows, a tour always leaves you with plenty of little amusing stories.

This short story I am about to reveal falls into the latter category.

We had just finished a show in some city in Ontario and all of us had jumped in the band van including some of Spokane’s (our guitarist) college buddies that came out to the show.  Two sketchy looking girls came up to the van window and began knocking on the window so the boys in the back seat opened up the door to see what they wanted.

11 Valuable Lessons I’ve Learned In The Music Industry

#1. Don’t play shows until you are ready and well rehearsed.

Too many times bands want to play out live so badly that they rush it and end up making a bad first impression. This is not a good idea as club bookers will remember how horrible the band was and you may never get another shot to perform there again.

#2. Don’t bother with looking for a manager, they will come looking for you.

Some beginner bands I have performed with had managers that were basically friends that tried to get the band shows and whatnot. You don’t really need a manager until there is something to manage meaning you are pulling in hundreds of fans in several markets and cannot keep up with the demand.

Cuts like a knife…or should I say laser.

It’s been a while but I am back to finally finish off what I got started a few stories ago.

Like I said, I had gone through a lot of pain and strange gravelly phases in my voice and decided to hit the ENT up for a visit.  Of course, these days with our amazing health care, I had to wait 3 months but when I finally got in to see the guy, I was faced with a singers worst nightmare.  I had a vocal granuloma meaning a lump on one of my vocal cords.
